Youth UpRising has a wide range of programs and services that all operate under YU's mission and vision. YU also integrates our youth leadership development model into all of our programs. YU also supports programs in working together and linking youth to other learning opportunities inside and outside of YU.

 

Youth Leadership & Community Building - Throughout the Center, YU offers a range of youth leadership opportunities which support community building.

Media Arts - In YU's 3,600 sq ft Media Arts Center, which features 3 vocal/engineering set-ups, a live music room, 4 video finishing rooms, a 9-Mac computer lab, and a training room, we offer in-depth music recording, video production and web design training.

Physical Arts- YU offers a range of programs in our fully mirrored, 950 sq ft Dance Studio Center, which features a sprung hard wood floor.

Performances Arts - YU offers a range of programs in our 1,500 sq ft Moroccan Soul Living Room, which features an indoor/outdoor amphitheater. Performing arts ties music, dance, spoken and video together through events and multi-media pieces.

Material Art - Build up your artistic skills YU offers a range of art classes in our 500 sq ft Material Arts Studio, equipped with industrial sinks.

Health and Wellness: Throughout the Center, YU offers all kinds of health and wellness services, including those offered in our 3,600 sq ft state-of-the-art Youth Uprising Health Clinic. This is a satellite clinic operated and staffed by Children's Hospital & Research Center at Oakland. We provide comprehensive and integrative medical and mental health services for youth in the community.

Career & Education - To turn around the slippery slope of poverty, YU provides a range of school and job support services, most of which is run out of our 3,600 sq ft Career & Education Center, which features two 950 sq ft classrooms.

  • College Resource Zone
  • Tutoring

Social Enterprise - This youth-run full service restaurant & catering business offers you great and affordable food as well as an intensive culinary arts training program in partnership with Laney College . We employee up to 30 youth at a time, so come in and check us out.
